Session: School Culture
Facilitators: Danielle Klingerman, Kathy Giles, and Mike Morris

School culture refers to the shared beliefs, customs, and behavior in relation to academic, social, political, geographic, and communal institutions of an educational system. Such institutions must be clearly defined and embedded within the make-up of the school, and fostered by the school board, school district personnel, school administrators, teachers, students, parents and community partners in order to have a positive school culture.

As schedules, curriculum, demographics, policies, and social interactions give way to the “intangibles”, it is the intangibles that are a major determinant of success within a school.
