Student Tech Teams: The Ultimate Authentic Learning Experience

Kerry Gallagher, J.D. / History Teacher, Reading Memorial High School, Reading, Massachusetts
Andrew Marcinek / Director of Technology, Grafton Public Schools, Grafton, Massachusetts
Rockets Help Desk Student Techs - Megan Catalano, Julia Donohue, Emily Fusco

Schools throughout Massachusetts, and other parts of the country, are starting to leverage student genius as they build up technology integration. Students can test new apps, create tutorials for teachers to use in the classroom, and even provide in-person support. Throughout the experience they are learning to navigate the edtech market, communicate effectively, and to serve a "customer" base within their school and district. Learn from a connected educator who is implementing a student tech team this year about the ups and downs that come with rolling out this kind of initiative. Students will provide insight into their own experiences as part of the program via video chat during the session.

Working in teams, participants are tasked to uncover clues and complete tasks correctly within the allotted time frame to earn token gold. Participants should BEWARE as incorrect answers could result in a forfeit of tokens! To add to the fun, we've included a surprise or two, so bring your digital camera along!

Message Description:

The Power of One
One.  It seems like such a helpless number.  However, one candle wipes away darkness; one tree can start a forest; one footstep must begin each journey.  Come discover the power one teacher can have in transforming the life of a child.
