Session DescriptionBrainSmart PreConference Offering  In this dynamic workshop, Dr. Donna Wilson will model practical strategies for increasing student learning she has shared internationally with more than 100,000 educators. Participants will leave this workshop with a toolbox of research-based practices for creating schools and classrooms for active learning. Dr. Wilson is a psychologist, former classroom teacher, and author of 20 books, including most recently Teaching Students to Drive Their Brains: Metacognitive Strategies, Activities, and Lesson Ideas with ASCD.

Dr. George Sugai to Lead Workshops.

Dr. George Sugai will lead two exciting workshops:

  • Strong Foundations: Aligning School-Wide and Classroom PBIS
  • Climate Change: Why are Discipline, Social Skills Instruction, and Behavior Support Important to Academic Achievement

Dr. George Sugai has been a public school teacher, program director, and project director of more than $60 million in federally funded grant projects. His expertise and experiences in such topics as proactive school-wide discipline, social skills instruction, preventive classroom and behavior management, and positive behavior support have also made him a sought after presenter at major conferences worldwide (including Canada, Australia, Spain, New Zealand, Jamaica, Netherlands, Denmark, Japan). He has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers for practitioners and researchers, teaches courses, and conducts workshops for teachers, administrators, school psychologists, and counselors. Dr. Sugai is currently the co-director of the OSEP Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), co-director of the Early Childhood Personnel Center, and director of the UConn Center on Behavioral Education and Research.
