Course Title: Relational Representatives: Using Models to Construct Meaning of Science Phenomena
Course Instructor: Nicole McRee
In order to determine true authentic scientific understanding, our students must be able to visualize phenomena and share their internal schema with an audience. There are a variety of approaches for learners to showcase their understanding using models. Not all models are 3D or project-based. We will be exposed to various practices and products that can be immediately integrated to current curriculum. This course will explore the importance of building visualization skills in science while critiquing concrete examples and developing lessons to engage students in high-level thinking, modeling, and non-verbal analysis.
